SCHMIDT WINS FIRST CANDIDATE’S DEBATE!

DIST 5, COMMISSION CANDIDATES DEBATE IN LEMMON VALLEY

May 25, 2006. The first candidate debate for Dist. 5-Washoe County Commission was held at the Lemmon Valley Property Association.  Four candidates debated, Republicans: Gary Schmidt, Joan Liscom, Bob Fink, the incumbent Bonnie Weber’s husband, Mike, (Weber was at another function) and the only Democrat, Tom Noblett.  The non-partisan candidate Gary Ferro was absent.

The candidates debated various questions asked by the moderator, Barry Bouchard and then they answered questions from the audience. 

“It was very interesting to hear the differences between the candidates,” several Citizens commented.   

After the debate, a straw poll was taken and the results: Republican, Gary Schmidt won with 40%; Joan Liscom also a republican, was next with 30%; democrat, Tom Noblett came in with 20%; republican, Bob Fink with 10% and the incumbent, Bonnie Weber, also a republican had no votes.
